Has your honeymoon been cancelled or postponed? Here are 5 action items for you!
TIPS TO HELP YOU IF YOUR HONEYMOON HAS BEEN POSTPONED
After chatting with so many clients and our good friends, who own a wedding venue ( @thewildsvenue ), I realize that a lot of brides and grooms might be struggling with how to rework your honeymoon plans!
So, here is an easy checklist to follow:
1. FEEL ALL THE FEELS- I have spoken with clients who have found themselves in this situation, and the first thing I tell them is, “It’s okay to feel the rollercoaster of emotions.” No one could have anticipated a pandemic in our lifetime affecting your wedding plans. So, in case you forgot or haven't been told, it’s okay to feel the way that you’re feeling about postponing your wedding and honeymoon.
2. REVIEW YOUR VENDOR POLICIES- I highly suggest postponing your honeymoon rather than cancelling. Many sites and resorts are working extremely well with clients. Some of the offerings are waived changed fees, keep your rate, free extra night, free room upgrade and many more. Be sure to ask about any fees you may encounter. If you purchased trip insurance, you may be able to recoup any fees you may be charged for switching your plans around.
3.CHOOSE A NEW DATE- Be sure to have alternate dates in mind before calling to make any changes. Consider taking a honeymoon weeks or months after your ceremony, just in case your first choice of dates are unavailable. Hold times can be really long and you don't want to have to do it twice. Be sure to write everything down- who you talked to, the date and time and outcome of the conversation.
4. START A NEW COUNTDOWN- You are going to need a getaway when all this has subsided. Have a little fun once all the details are worked out- do a themed dinner that ties into the cuisine of your destination. Hop on and order yourself some cute vacation items- I love @wearalibi and @dottiecouturebtq, if you need a recommendation.
